If you are visiting this website, you may be looking for a church home or want to
know more about Immanuel Baptist Church. But you may be wondering--just what does it mean to become a Christian.
To become a Christian, the Bible tells us that we must accept Jesus Christ
as our personal Savior. So how do you do
that?
Admit that we are all sinners.
The Bible says in Romans 2:23 that "... all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"
Our sin separates us from God and doesn't allow us to have a right relationship with Him.
Are you willing to confess your sin to Jesus and ask for His forgiveness?
Believe Jesus
is God's son who died on a cross to pay for our sin and rose from the dead.
The Bible says in
Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
The Bible also says in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave
his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
life."
Believing is not just
knowing the truth, but a matter of trusting and obeying.
God loves you so much that he sent Jesus to die on a cross to provided
a way for you to bridge the gap between the sinful world where we perish (=hell)
and God's perfect world of eternal life (=heaven.)
Are you ready to stop trusting in your own good works and instead trust in
what Jesus did to save you?
Commit to follow Jesus as Lord and Savior through confession you make in prayer.
The Bible says in
Romans 10:13 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in
your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
As you confess that you are a sinner
and in need of forgiveness, you can repent (turn from sin) and you can ask Jesus
to come into your life as your Lord and Savior.
Jesus died to offer you this free gift of forgiveness and mercy; you can
accept His gift by asking Jesus into your heart by saying a prayer like this:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know I am a
sinner and I want to turn from my sins. I believe You died for my sins on the cross and rose from the dead.
I need Your forgiveness. I now trust you to save
me. I invite You to come into my heart and into my life to be my Lord and Savior.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
If you prayed this
prayer, we'd love for you to contact one of our ministry staff so that we can celebrate
with you, as this is the best decision you will ever make.
